Live-in Caretaker/maintenance person
Contract: 41 hours per week, flexible days, permanent
We are looking for a person to take on the residential role of Caretaker, living in the Grade 1-listed Sharpham House, which operates as a residential retreat centre.
This role is vital to the effective and smooth running of the House. You will undertake the general maintenance of the House, ensuring its smooth running and responding to the needs of groups staying. You will also help prepare the House during the changeovers by moving and lifting furniture and you will have responsibility for being on call during out of hours in case of problems or fire alarms. The role is also responsibility for security and opening and closing the House each day.
This role comes with a small but comfortable flat located at the top of Sharpham House with bedroom, lounge, bathroom and kitchen. The House is located in an historic parkland on the River Dart a couple of miles from Totnes. The accommodation is rent-free and all utilities except phone are paid for.
This is a role for someone who is well organised with excellent communication skills and the ability to work on his or her own initiative, as part of a small team. You will have previous relevant experience and able to manage multiple priorities and always achieve high standards. Flexibility and a sense of humour will be vital.
An interest in the Trust’s charitable work and mindfulness would also be an advantage. Staff are able to access the Trust’s programme of courses and retreats.
