Overview

Monday 28 October, 1.15pm to 3.45pm

Let's go seed-seeking in this wondrous half-term holiday event!

Join us as we explore the beautiful, Autumnal Sharpham woods and hedgerows.

We will collect native, broadleaved tree seeds such as acorns and hawthorn berries (we'll also play some fun nature games along the way).

Then we'll plant some of the seeds in pots of compost, ready for them to germinate next Spring and grow into the trees of the future!

Sorry - no dogs allowed and routes are not accessible for pushchairs

This day is for you if you are:

  • wanting a nature-based half-term event for you and your children
  • looking for an event in a beautiful, outdoor, woodland setting
  • interested in learning more about wildlife, woods and the natural world

What should you bring or wear?

  • a drink and snack
  • sturdy but comfortable walking shoes/boots
  • waterproofs and layers depending on the weather forecast
  • wear long trousers, not shorts, as we will be walking in the woods & in long grass and there's a small chance of ticks
  • There is drinking water on site and loos - but bring your own water bottles

Schedule

This event runs from 1.15pm - 3.45pm

If you're in a car, park in the Woodland Campsite car park and then we'll meet at The Woodland Campsite at 1.15pm.

There will be an introduction there, followed by a gently-paced walk around Sharpham Estate (a walk of 1.5 miles maximum).

The paths are uneven in places and there is a substantial hill to walk down - and then walk back up again on the way back - but everyone can go at their own pace.

The event finishes at 3.45pm.
