The Coach House: 4-night mindfulness, nature & eco retreats

People often ask me what one thing I would recommend to restore relationship between land and people. My answer is almost always, 'Plant a garden'

Connect with nature on a 4-night nature-mindfulness retreat in The Coach House.

It didn't disappoint. Similar in style to the main house but felt more intimate and smaller.
Many thanks to Wendy for providing the delicious vegan meals and to the
co-ordinators for support and kindness. I shall return again one day soon

A retreatant on our gardening retreats works in the Walled Garden

People often ask me what one thing I would recommend to restore relationship between land and people. My answer is almost always, 'Plant a garden.' It’s good for the health of the earth and it’s good for the health of people.

Retreatants work in the Walled Garden
Getting your hands in the earth

Coach House mindfulness, nature and eco retreats feature morning sessions helping in our ornamental and Walled Garden in the grounds of Sharpham House, alongside our experienced garden staff Frances and Chloe.

We manage the gardens organically and the produce we grow supplies the kitchens in Sharpham House and the Coach House.

There are a mixture of tasks on our nature-mindfulness and eco-retreats, depending on the season. We invite you to bring your awareness to the land, plants and the nature surrounding you at Sharpham.

You don't need to know anything about gardening to participate - our team will support and assist you.

It is important that you are willing to participate in doing this as part of your mindfulness practice (we can find suitable tasks for people with health difficulties – let us know in advance) and that you try to commit to all the scheduled activities during the week.

NB: If you're less able to do gardening, a Sharpham House retreat may be more suitable

I have just completed a four day gardening retreat at The Coach House and it was just what I needed to reset myself before the madness of December arrives. The staff were welcoming, warm, knowledgeable and fun. The accommodation was extremely comfortable and the setting gorgeous. The food provided for us each day was delicious and good for us too! All in all, I feel deeply relaxed, nurtured and my only dilemma is when to book my next retreat. Thank you to everyone at Sharpham for providing this opportunity.

I recently completed the 4-night retreat at The Coach House and I have completely fallen for this very special place. The grounds are wonderful, especially the ancient yew tree, and the meditation programme was wonderful. Delicious food and great company, I’ll certainly be back.

Absolutely beautiful setting. Very skilled facilitators. Wonderful food. I don’t think it is an exaggeration to say that the retreat at The Coach House totally exceeded any expectations for myself and others. So incredible to experience meaningful human connection again and embrace mindfulness.

Wonderful retreat at the Coach House - mindfulness in nature. Very nourishing and I feel rejuvenated

Set in beautiful surroundings, Sharpham's Coach House is a welcoming and relaxing environment in which to take a break from the normal pressures of daily life. The staff are attentive and supportive, the food is delicious and the meditation sessions and time away from screens gave me greater perspective. The week as a whole encouraged me to slow down and to take time to appreciate simple pleasures more. I will definitely return to Sharpham having discovered this haven. Highly recommended.

I have been to Sharpham House three times now. The last one was the first of new coach House retreats. It didn't disappoint. Similar in style to the main house but felt more intimate and smaller. Many thanks to Wendy for providing the delicious vegan meals and to the co-ordinators for support and kindness. I shall return again one day soon.

This retreat takes place in The Coach House, a historic Grade II-listed building behind Sharpham House set in a Capability Brownian landscape with stunning views over the steeply-wooded River Dart.
