Welcome Luca!

Luca Middleton has joined the staff at the Sharpham Trust as an apprentice gardener.

He arrived in January, having toured communities and volunteered at our friends at Embercombe.

He's not been a gardener before, but he's being taught everything from plant names and tree-pruning to strimming and lawn-mowing by our Gardener Jesse Hammond.

"I like being outside," said Luca. "I've done a bit of landwork and natural building before this but I wanted to have a more specific job outdoors."

Now he's arrived here and is doing his NVQ Level 2 gardening (which means he goes to South Devon College once a fortnight).

He's falling under the spell of Sharpham: "There's something a bit special about this place," says Luca.
