First Day Reflections

I sat beside the water’s edge
and gazed upon the scene;
the river floating silently
beside a myriad trees of green.

I walked along a footpath –
wild flowers reaching for the day –
and looked across the fields of grass
that beckoned me their way.

I talked with new found friends,
all seeking a different same;
We listened to each other
‘til the mindful silence came.

I lay in bed and pondered things
with kindness as my fleece,
and closed my eyes with gratitude,
thankful for the peace.

A poem written by retreatant Julie Ashfield, who said: "My thanks again to everyone. Just what I have needed for a long time".
