Our gardeners Jacqui and Jesse have been busy helping ferns procreate (!), with the aid of pieces of paper.

The pair have been gathering spores in order to plant more ferns in our woodland area.

They do this by collecting leaves and sandwiching them between sheets of paper. After 24 hours, the leaves have given up their spores - and made art too! A perfect replication of the leaf-shape is made by the spores.

Said Jacqui: " We're doing this because ferns are beautiful, and if they are planted, that means fewer invasive species. They are plants you want, not the ones you don't want. Ferns thrive and they're native."
