We wanted to share some news concerning retreat leader and teacher Ramiro Ortega.

In October, he was diagnosed with a rare form of kidney cancer and is now beginning treatment in his native Spain, facing an uncertain future.

We are in regular touch with Ramiro, who is writing movingly about his experiences on his blog here, hosted on a platform called CaringBridge which allows friends and colleagues to connect with him, while also collecting donations to put towards his care.

He says: "I’ve created this space so I can share with you how things are going for me. Over the past days I’ve received many kind and supportive messages from you. I would love to reply to each of you personally, but between treatment, medical appointments, blood tests, self-care, and general fatigue, my days are already quite full. So it seemed more sensible to offer updates here —perhaps once a week, if I have the energy and capacity".

Helping Ramiro

Sharpham Trust staff (and his colleagues at Gaia House too) have collected for him, but there is a more public-facing way to support Ramiro - who has stopped all appointments and work.

If Ramiro has helped your in your mindfulness journey in any way, and you feel able to contribute, please participate in the GoFundMe crowdfunder set up to help him. Thank you.
