Our Walled Garden has been producing some fine soft fruit this summer.

Assistant Gardener Jacqui Hallum picked 11 kilos of blackcurrants - and at the time of picking, she reckoned there was about the same amount left on the bushes to ripen.

"I had to use scissors as well as my hands, so it's quite painstaking work because you have to snip around the unripened fruit," she said.

The blackcurrants will be used in Sharpham House kitchen and some will be frozen. Our visitors can expect delicious blackcurrant jam and desserts.
