Art inspired by a Barn retreat has been shared by a retreatant.
Joseph Kohlmaier came to stay on retreat at our Buddhism-inspired venue - and he made art every day he was there.
He created a 'sketch' each day, inspired by his dreams and what was unfolding on retreat.
Joseph said that the sketches "speak to a shared experience and connect in both direct and roundabout ways to fellow retreatants, each of whom now has one as a gift.
"There is a form of protection in shared experience, and because they are so direct and personal, the drawings weren’t intended for a broader audience. But moving between a space of protection and everyday life — and eventually collapsing the perceived boundaries between the two — is something I became particularly interested in during the retreat.
"The drawings bear testimony and touch on how this can happen in a gentle, caring, yet also rigorous and energetic atmosphere. I hope they will speak to the heart and inspire more people to connect and join The Barn."
