A CHANGE TO THE WAY WE PRESENT OUR PUBLICITY 2009
Apologies to those of you who were expecting to receive a Sharpham Centre programme for 2009 in the post. This year we will be producing three smaller leaflets in Spring / Summer and Autumn / Winter editions. The leaflets will all be under the banner of the Sharpham Programme but will be divided into events that happen at Sharp[ham House and South Wing - talks, meditation, arts, weekends and open days; Sharpham Outdoors - environmental activities and the Barn programme of retreats, - this year with additional themed and garden weeks. We will also be producing a monthly sheet combining the whole programme in a calendar style. In the meantime please refer to the calendar of events on the website or if you do not have easy internet access we will post you a copy of our monthly listing. Please make this request by telephone to our secretary on 01803 732 542. Regualr monthly updates are also sent out by email - do join our mailing list if you would like to receive information in this way. Thank you for bearing with us during the changeover period.
TUESDAY EVENING PROGRAMME 2009
A new season of Tuesday Evening Talks will be held during May, June and July. The monthly poetry evenings hosted by Alice Oswald are scheduled for the first Tuesday of each month excluding April, August and December. Please see the calendar of events for more details.
SHARPHAM ESTATE OPEN WEEKEND 27/28TH JUNE 2009
This year we will be holding an Open Estate Weekend. This will include a number of different events and activities over the whole weekend to give visitors a better picture of many different aspects of life on the estate and programme. The House and gardens will be open, it will be possible to stay in the house and be at the heart of things. Our Making Waves programme of inspiring talks and discussions will be on the theme of Soil and Soul a subject that represents and connects the diversity of the estate. There will be Sharpham Outdoors activities, opportunities to get out on the river in one of our canoes; farm and vineyard visits; and plenty of scope to discover more about what we do and sample food and drink produced on the estate.
We encourage those of you who can to come to the estate by cycle, on foot or by River Rat.
USING SHARPHAM HOUSE TO RUN YOUR COURSE

SHARPHAM HOUSE REFURBISHMENT UPDATE
Phase one of the refurbishmant is complete. The woodchip boiler has been installed , improvements to the way the house flows have been made and the kitchen and dining room for courses are now both on the ground floor with access to the gardens. There is always more to do and phase two of the work will be carried out as soon as the funds to do so can be raised. Phase two will include installing a lift and further bathroom and toilet facilities on the residential floors as well as on going redecoration.
Ways in which you can help
Refurbishment is a costly business, and a grade one listed building has many additional requirements. We are very grateful for any support you may be able to offer by attending events, making a donation or joining the Friends of Sharpham. If you would like further information or to initiate a fundraising event, please contact the Secretary on 01803 732 542.
FRIENDS OF SHARPHAM
If you are inspired by the work of the Trust and would like to become actively involved in helping to communicate this, or just to be kept informed of news and events on the estate, you may like to join the Friends of Sharpham. Friends will be invited to a number of social events each year, enjoy discounted rates and receive the Sharpham Trust Newsletter. For more information please contact the Secretary on 01803 732 542.
