Our new garden apprentice

Our new garden apprentice

Published: 02 January 2018

Jakob's got grape expectations after becoming the garden apprentice at The Sharpham Trust during 2018.

He's just spent the last few years grape-picking in France, and he's keen to learn more about growing vines and other vegetables.

"I've got a little garden at home with flowers and plants and even a little grapevine, but it's not fruited yet," says Jakob, 27. While he's here, maybe he'll pop his head over the fence to Sharpham Wine & Cheese.

Jakob went to the Totnes Steiner School, where there is a big emphasis on gardening. And he's looking forward to learning from Sharpham's gardener Jesse Hammond.

"I want to learn more about vegetable production, herbs and orchards," said Jakob. "There's a lot to learn!"
