Mindfulness Taster Sessions

Mindfulness is first and foremost a practice rather than a theory or concept. This two-hour session will give you a brief introduction to mindfulness and is an opportunity to see if this is something that you would like to take further.

The session is suitable for those new to mindfulness and who are interested in finding out more about the subject, before committing to a regular practice or signing up to our 1-Day Introduction to Mindfulness courses, our 8-week Mindfulness for Health & Well-being courses, or Mindfulness for Beginners Retreats

Our taster sessions are run by members from our group of experienced and qualified mindfulness teachers

What will you gain?

  • A safe and accessible introduction to this subject with an experienced and trained teacher
  • Information about the 8 week programme, its possible benefits and whether the course meets your expectations and is suitable for you at this time.

Who is the session for?

The session is suitable for most people aged 18 and above, and will be led in a group of no more than 15.

Mindfulness courses from The Sharpham Trust

Working with depression and anxiety

Although mindfulness can be helpful in managing depression and anxiety, our courses and retreats are for groups not individuals and are not recommended for people who are experiencing an episode of clinically diagnosed anxiety, depression or other psychiatric illness. In line with current evidence we do not offer mindfulness as an individual 'clinical intervention', but rather as an aid to everyday health, wellbeing and in helping prevent relapse.

We also request that people do not attend the group under the influence of alcohol or drugs (except prescribed medication).

After undertaking this course, many go on to our 1-day introduction to Mindfulness course, our 8-week Mindfulness for Health & Wellbeing Course or our Retreats at Sharpham, with accommodation in our Grade 1-Listed Sharpham House, or our Woodland Retreats or at the Barn Retreat Centre
