Editing Content on the Sharpham site

All the content on the site can be edited from the web browser. The content is one of two sorts -

  • a web page
  • or details relating to a course or event.

To edit information on a web page you will first need to log in to the site by going to http://www.sharphamtrust.org/admin

Once logged in you will need to return to the page that you wish to edit and click on the 'admin' link that is at the end of the navigation menu. (see below)

Once you have clicked on the link for the page you wish to edit you will see the following options.

This allows you to edit the page title, heading etc as well as the content of the main central fram and add eleements to the area in the top left above the smaller images if desired. There are various options to format text as well as create links using the icon of a a world with a chain link. Choose the 'Update Page' option when completed. It is possible to edit existing events in the same way - choose 'Edit Event' from the menu and select the event from the Calendar month as appropriate.

Creating an Event and pasting content from Word

It is also possible to create new events for any of the sections of the website. Choose create event from the menu at the top of the page following the 'admin' log in. Select the category that the event is to occur in from the drop down list as shown.

Add a title, teacher etc.

It is possible to type in the main box or to copy and paste selections of text from Word. If copying from Word - the text will have formatting used by Word in the copy - to clean this up click on the 'Source' button and paste it into the window (right mouse click or Ctrl+V).

Then highlight all that you have pasted in and copy/cut it again (right mouse button 'Cut' or use Ctrl+X) and click the 'Source' button again (If using Firefox click 'Cancel'). You can now paste into the main box and apply any formatting (bold etc that you choose.) This will provide a basic clean format for the webpage.

In order to ensure all the text matches that already on the site there is one more action. Highlight the text and choose 'Normal' from the 'Format' drop down box. (It is also an option to create subheadings using the 'Heading 3' or 'Heading 4' option.)

After editing the body of the page scroll down and add a date and time for the event and a cost if any. (If the event should be booked but is donation - add donation in the cost box). Click 'Create Event' . Once created the event can be edited by going to the Edit Workshop option Calendar and the appropriate month.
