Children & Families
The spectacular woodlands, ponds, meadows, reeds and river that form the 550 acre Sharpham Estate are a perfect setting for outdoor adventures, camp fires, story telling and environmental art. Family and community are at the heart of the Sharpham Trust’s work, with many public events specifically aimed at providing families with opportunities to share time together in this beautiful setting.
Our forest school (including ‘Into the woods’ and the Spring/Summer Explorers) and family programmes are focused on an exploration of the natural environment through different skills and senses and an awareness of the importance of sustainability and focus on the individual.
Our Estate Open Days welcome families, with numerous activities and places along the river and in the woods to explore together. We also have an on-going calendar of public events designed to offer families the chance to visit Sharpham, as well as the chance to have a very special outdoors birthday party or celebration at Sharpham.

A place to get active
In the words of our visitors
- As my son is Autistic, I know that he can be very difficult especially in group situations. I am very used to picking him up from school or groups with the teacher or leader looking very serious and wanting "a chat" about him which usually leads somewhere difficult. It has been lovely to see you come round the corner with him and you both smiling and you bringing positivity with you about him. Thank you for seeing in him the boy I know he is. I just wanted to let you know as it has meant a lot to me and a lot to him.
- Jane (parent)
